CHILL & RIDE powered by Nissan 2009

CHILL & RIDE powered by Nissan – Europe’s largest Wakeboard-Boat Event

+++ 40 Wakeboard Boats are expected to attend the event +++

+++ Freistett / Rheinau will be the place to be for wakeboarders these days +++

+++ Up to 60 riders are expected to compete in the contest +++

Juechen, July 6th, 2009

Between August 20th and 23rd, the Chill and Ride powered by Nissan celebrates its fifth anniversary. The largest wakeboard-boat event will take place in southwest Germany and invites wakeboarders and especially wakeboard boat owners to join the event, compete in the contest and meet like-minded people.

While the number of riders at the contest of the Chill and Ride increased significantly by 20% during the last years, the number of boats remained steady at twenty-five. These numbers may not seem to be impressive at first view. At second view however, it becomes clear that such a boat, manufactured by Correctcraft, Mastercraft, Supra, Moomba or Seadoo, requires an investment between 40.000 and 100.000 EUR. This may illustrate the elitist conditions behind the sport and the financial requirements for participation.

ORLANDO FLORIDA 6th Annual Slider Spectacular

November 12, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

ORLANDO, FLORIDA - On Saturday November 1st the Orlando Watersports Complex held its 6th Annual Slider Spectacular. The event was an obstacles-only competition for both wake boarders and wake skaters of all skill levels. Competition started at 11AM and lasted all the way up till 5PM, with a short rain delay before the finals.

The event brought out over 50 riders and everyone delivered their best tricks out to the cable. Alex Phinney, Yonel Cohen and Anna Hajek dominated the wakeboard divisions. Jonathan Sundstrom, Lacey Menkin and Patrick Mulvaney finished first in our wake skate divisions. The wakeboard and wake skate Pro-Outlaw division awarded cash prizes to those who could throw their best tricks from our sliders and kickers. Julian Cohen won overall Pro Outlaw in the wakeboard division, whereas Kyle Hyams did so in our Pro Outlaw wake skate division.

The Pro Outlaw divisions were basically set up as best trick competitions. Julian Cohen definitely came through as defending champ by taking home 2 out of 3 best tricks. He stuck a switch backboard to switch nose press to switch front board out of the A-frame. Of our Big White kicker he stomped a big switch back 5. Our very own featured rider Adam Errington took home the other check by sticking a sick switch 270 on to front 270 of our favorite slider “Nessy”.

Our Pro Outlaw wake skaters definitely threw down this year as well. Overall winner Kyle Hyams landed a 270 shove on to front board backside big spin out of the picnic table. Ben Kaiser came through with a sweet side Ollie 270 to shove off of the flat bar. To top things off, Dieter Humpsch stomped a huge front side Indy big spin.

The Orlando Watersports Complex would like to thank Performance Ski&Surf, Ronix, RedBull, Nautique Correct Craft & IndoBoards for always being here for us and coming through with their generous donations! Homevest Realty, Hyperlite, Voda, 925Never, Monavie, Seasons52, the Grand Bohemian Hotel & last but not least Stigmata for their very much appreciated donations and help to make this annual event yet another great success!

We hope to see everyone out at OWC again next year for the 7th Annual Slider Spectacular.
